Prepare playtest cards without confusing them with originals
The proxy workspace exists for private playtesting and table-approved substitutes. It is not a marketplace, does not certify reproductions as genuine cards and should never be used to misrepresent a printed sheet as an original Magic product. Local rules, venue rules and the expectations of the playgroup still apply.
Deck data and print data are separate
A saved deck identifies canonical cards and quantities. A proxy sheet additionally needs a specific printing, face image, crop and physical arrangement. Esper Forge keeps those decisions inside the sheet so choosing a borderless treatment for playtesting does not rewrite the deck's rules identity or price assumptions.
Deck export serves a different purpose: it transfers a list to another service, often for purchasing or analysis. Proxy generation prepares images for a local printer. Duplicating a deck creates another editable list. Keeping these actions separate prevents a printing choice from becoming accidental deck data.
Special cards must remain understandable
Transform and modal double-faced cards can require both faces. Adventure and split layouts must remain one canonical card even when the frame contains several names or text boxes. The sheet renderer groups relevant faces and allows the chosen printing to be changed without losing the relationship between front and back.
Tokens are placed after the Sideboard and Maybeboard because they are optional game pieces rather than counted deck cards. A custom card back can be generated separately. Precise spacing and card-back alignment are print settings, not changes to the underlying deck.
Use proxies transparently
A playtest card should be recognizable to every player at the table and should not be presented for sale or trade as an authentic product. Ask the playgroup or event organizer before using substitutes. Sanctioned events and individual stores may apply rules that are stricter than a private Commander night.
Card images and names remain the property of their respective owners. Esper Forge is independent from Wizards of the Coast and Scryfall. The tool organizes user-requested print preparation; it does not grant rights to commercialize card artwork or bypass the rules of a venue.

Proxy questions
Does generating a sheet change my deck?
No. Printing choices belong to the proxy sheet. The saved deck list remains unchanged.
Can an administrator print an incomplete deck?
Yes. Admin proxy mode can prepare any non-empty card selection for testing without applying normal format or deck-size restrictions.
May I sell generated proxies?
Esper Forge is designed for personal, transparent playtesting. It does not grant permission to sell reproductions or represent them as genuine cards.
